Several times a week I get an email from someone that sounds like this:
I am a big fan of your blog. I sell handcrafted saddle/ring-pillows for dog ring-bearers. I would love it if you featured our products on your site. We are looking to connect with brides!
If this person had read Sage Wedding Pros, they would know that our readers are NOT brides. They would know that we are NOT going to connect them with brides. Our readers are BUSINESS OWNERS of wedding businesses. (If they happen to also be engaged to be married, that is purely circumstantial.)
Soooo… REMEMBER: READ READ READ READ READ the site or blog before you submit a query, pitch, or submission for a feature. You must know everything about this site to make sure you are a fit. (Otherwise, you’ll embarrass yourself at best and harm your image at worst.) If the blog features light and airy farmhouse weddings, DO NOT send images of a flashy ritzy decadent indoor wedding.
KNOW the readers, KNOW the audience… and submit accordingly.
