Happy New Year! I love a New Year! It’s a great time to start things on the right foot. We’ve got a little series this week to help you get your business strategy in place for 2017. Make sure to head back to part 1 where I talk about reviewing 2016 and part 2 about creating a plan for 2017.
FINALLY – create a ‘trigger’ strategy.
The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
So – here is the thing about plans… They are REALLY fun to create. But – they are not as fun to execute. So – what happens in April when the freshness of the New Year has gone away? What happens in July when you are in the thick of it with clients, weddings, events? The plans go to the back burner. (OR maybe even in the back of the closet.) And – all of a sudden – you aren’t proactively working on those things you set out to achieve.
You need a ‘trigger’ to remind you to circle back to your plan – weekly or monthly. Everyone’s triggers are different. For some people it’s a calendar item that repeats. For some people it’s an accountability partner or business coach. For some people, it’s an automatic email reminder.
What’s yours? What is going to be the trigger that forces you to head back to your plan and to revisit the next steps in your projects for achieve your goals?
When you set up your 2017 plan over the next few weeks – think about what the trigger will be to ensure that you are proactive with your business strategy all year-round.
