Branding Case Study by Doodledog Creative
From time to time we’ll be inviting one of our Sage Branding Specialists to share some of their “before and after” design work with us. By learning from these case studies you’ll be better able to see branding identity go through an evolution, gain strength, and come to life.
Today, Nikki Nukkols from Doodledog Advertising shares her redesign of Heather Gardner Weddings‘ branding identity. Heather worked with Sage Wedding Pros’ Kelly on The Simple Plan Exclusive. The two of them strategized on determining “Who is Heather? What does she want to be known for?” From these sessions, Heather decided she needed to rethink her business name and branding.
Before the Redesign
Heather Gardner Weddings, formally known as La Dolce Vita Weddings, was a fun-loving, easy-going, smile-worthy brand stuck in an uptight, formal and traditional identity.
Inspiration for the Redesign
When we met business owner Heather Gardner, we quickly picked up on her love of life, sweet personality and happy-go-lucky attitude, so after our first brainstorming and creative brief meeting we knew what we had to do. We needed to create a brand identity that represented her personality (which was a valuable asset to her brand) in a better light.
We started with vibrant watercolor tones, hand drawn imperfect circles, and playful fonts, and incorporated nostalgic song lyrics and detailed textures to add even more depth to the brand identity. A small hand drawn star filled with the same colors and textures that are found throughout the brand is the detail that ties it all together. From the logo, business cards and collateral material to the packaging and custom designed wordpress site and blog combo, the entire brand is a great representation of Heather’s sunny personality and business outlook.
