Sure… it’s busy season.  Things are NUTS!  (That might be an understatement.)  But, regardless of how busy you are, it’s important to remain visible.  Naturally you won’t be able to attend every networking event and function on the planet.  And, your facebooking and twitter activity may have slowed down.  But, it’s important to stay somewhat visible and ‘on the scene’.

People who are visible get referrals from their colleagues.

Those referrals are necessary for your 2013 and 2014 income.  (Remember: always be promoting.)

When a client of mine asks what photographer I recommend, I usually have a few favorites.  But, if I saw one of these photographers recently, or got a nice email from them, they are going to be TOP of MIND.  And, theirs may be the name that gets referred first.  (Assuming they are a match for the client.)  If I haven’t seen that wedding pro in a while, I probably haven’t forgotten about them entirely.  But, they may not be TOP of MIND.  I may also think they are a little too busy to handle new business.  Or, god forbid, I think that they aren’t doing business any more.

It’s important to cut down on commitments during busy season.  Otherwise, we end up spreading ourselves too thin.  But, pick a couple things to attend each month and a couple people to network with – EVEN when you’re busy.  Otherwise, you’ll find that you have become ‘outta sight and outta mind’.
