Today, we are inviting one of our Sage Branding Specialists to share some of their “before and after” design work with us. By learning from these case studies you’ll be better able to see branding identity go through an evolution, gain strength, and come to life.
Heidi Bartlett, Owner of Idieh Design and one of our Sage Branding Specialists has a branding case study for us today! I love how she was able to create such strong a strong identity for the new jewelry company, Emma Quist.
Read on to see how branding and design magic comes to life. (OH – and when you’re done here, make sure to check out Heidi’s new website. LOVE how she’s branded her own business!)
Before the Design
After working with idieh design to create all of her wedding stationery, Lindsey approached idieh design to create a logo for her new business venture, emma Quist, an elite haute jewelry brand that resonates with clientele of sophisticated style. Lindsey wanted to use the same inspiration for her business logo as we used on her wedding stationery.
To give you a little background, Louis XIV, the “Sun King” was the inspiration behind Lindsey’s invitation suite. The couple wanted an elegant, sophisticated, yet unique design (all the same qualities that describe the emma Quist brand). A sun seemed most fitting, considering her nickname was “Sunshine,” given to her by her father, who is also very much involved in emma Quist.
In the initial concepts I presented to Lindsey, I purposely refined, refined, and yes, refined even more the initial wedding logo to simplify the initial look of the sun. I chose a san serif typeface to keep a clean & modern feel and I pulled color inspiration from the jewelry pieces specifically created for emma Quist. The result:
Lindsey felt this direction was slightly too modern for the brand. She missed the elaborate rays of the sun on her wedding invitation. No worries! We took all her comments and feedback into consideration and, after a few round of edits, this is the end result!
Presenting to you, the new brand of emma Quist…
After the Design
The emma Quist logo depicts a sun and the warmth it emits, very much relating to the personality of Lindsey, who is sweet as pie. She is always smiling and so refined & sophisticated in her style. This logo also communicates an upscale brand that radiates in uniqueness, quality, & sophistication. In essence, it represents everything emma Quist has to offer.
What Lindsey, emma Quist’s founder, has to say:
“I had the great pleasure of working with Heidi of idieh design on both personal and business related projects. For our October 2010 wedding, Heidi helped us create all the wedding paper goods. In beauty and creativity, the end products far exceeded my visions! That they turned out so intimately reflective of my husband’s and my personal style is a testimony to Heidi’s gift of design. She keenly observed, listened, and created invitations, menus, programs, place cards, and stationary that were so unique and so perfectly “us.” All the pieces utilized our wedding logo with which we worked with Heidi to create. I loved this logo so much that I used it for my business logo, as well. Heidi helped me transition the logo appropriately and combine it harmoniously with an ideal font for my business name and viola! Wholeheartedly, I recommend Heidi and idieh design; I couldn’t have been more pleased with my experience and my end results!”
Thanks Heidi & Lindsey!
