This week I wanted to discuss the very basics of social media. On Tuesday, we discuss how social media is about building a foundation for your business relationships through conversation. Yesterday, we talked about how it’s OK to disagree on social media, just make sure it’s respectful.
Today… let’s talk about sharing… sharing is caring…
Because social media is about conversation, a piece of the important interaction you with others is the passing along of good information. It’s one thing to talk with people and socialize. But, to become a trusted source of information, you need to share your knowledge. Retweet (RT) a blog post you liked, share a facebook link you enjoyed, email someone the article you just read.
Lastly… Do you comment on the blogs you read? I’ve touched on this before. If you read something and enjoy it do 2 things: 1) leave a comment and 2) post it on twitter, facebook, or other social media outlet.
When we network in real life – and in social media – we so often expect people to give give give to us. But it starts with sharing what others have to offer. Over time, that foundation will be so very strong. You will receive plenty.
Just a little note… thank you to all the fabulous readers of our blog for always being so generous and sharing our goods on social media! And – also for sharing your lovely thoughts and comments here. I know I’m preaching to the choir this week. 🙂
