Michelle takes Miami
OK… folks! I have a really big doozy of an announcement today… ready for this?
I am moving to Miami at the end of November. And, yes, I’m taking my business… oh yeah, and my 2-year old daughter and husband too. My husband works in sales and marketing, largely with the East coast and Latin America… hence, the move to Miami. I am really looking forward to this new adventure ahead of us, and wanted to make sure I conveyed my plans for mmm…paper and Sage Wedding Pros to you:
So… what does this all mean?!
Plans for mmm… paper
Well, fortunately invitation design can be done from anywhere. And, I’ve managed to do invites long-distance with a number of clients over the last several years. So, I know that I will continue to service the west coast with mmm… paper.
And, then there is the whole “Miami market”! YOWZA! What is that like? I have done a little research and know that it will present some humogous ginormous differences from Seattle. Who will my target market be? How will I market my brand? I have defined my niche (hand-crafted invitations) but how will that work in Miami? This I do know: I will be doing a helluva lot of market research and market strategy over the next few months.
I think it will also push my business in a direction that it needs to go: much broader national reach. I’ve slowly been going there, by working with people long-distance through-out the west coast. But, there are some jumps I need to make to really reach that national level. This move will certainly push me in that direction and I’m excited about what is in store for the future of mmm…paper.
Plans for Sage Wedding Pros
Sage Wedding Pros will continue to provide education and resources. Wheeeewwww… this one is easy! There’ll be no transitioning of anything here. We’ve managed to reach an international audience and appreciate everyone’s support. We continue committed to building sustainable businesses in the wedding industry. And, I will continue to post daily to our blog so no interruptions there – in fact, I have already slotted out posts for all of November since we’ll be moving and settling in.
Plans for adventure
I’m an adventurer so I welcome changes in all their scary uncertainty. My invitation business will take on a new direction. And, I LOVE this! It excites me. Of course, I will certainly miss my favorite wedding professional friends in Seattle, yet I also look forward to meeting some awesome new vendors in Miami!
So… there’s the news that’s fit for print! Thanks in advance for your support – and be sure to follow my adventures via the blog and Twitter!
I am so excited for you – welcome to sunny (and hot!) Florida! Will look forward to following your adventures. Be prepared with your tank tops and flipflops out, that’s for sure.

I just moved to a new market myself {Houston to Los Angeles} and can tell you that one of the great things about starting afresh is that you’ve learned lessons you can apply right from the start. I’m sure you’ll love Miami & all it’s hotness!

Congratulations on your new adventure Michelle! With your magnetic personality and amazing business skills I know that you’ll do great in S. Florida. And Miami has so many cool nearby cities that I’m sure you’ll enjoy all the exploring you’ve got ahead of you. Can’t wait to come visit and enjoy some beach time! And just think, you’ll be that much closer to Hot-lanta, too! 🙂
Michelle…you’re business is going to do amazingly well in Miami! NO doubt about that! You are such a smart lady and incredibly talented! But all of us in Seattle are going to miss you tremendously!! Hey, at least I’ve got someone’s house to crash at if I want to go to Miami! (just kidding!)
Wow! Talk about a change not only on the weather front but the city personality front also! Good luck with the move, I am sure you will super succeed anywhere you are!
